Service Opportunities For InterCorps Council Members Listed are service opportunities for all InterCorps Council members as well as others interested in helping out. ICC members should try to provide assistance in a few events. Involvement levels vary and outreach is anyways needed! Free AmeriCorps Digital Storytelling Workshop Laura Hadden is a part of the CTC VISTA Project (ctcvista.org) at The Center for Digital Storytelling. VISTA Carrie Cook and Laura are putting together a complimentary digital storytelling workshop for Americorps members and alums in an effort to create a collection of stories about national service. The workshop will be held in our center here in Berkeley from 9AM - 5PM on May 22nd - 24th. Email laura@storycenter.org for more information and to apply. ~~~~
For National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, 2009, the ICC partnered with the SF Recreation & Parks Department. We had a great event! See the pictures. ~~~ The Northern California InterCorps Council collaborated with The Valentine Peace Project for our inaugural service project. Through poetry, sharing and public reflection The Valentine Peace Project encourages a creative dialogue on peace leading up to the worldwide love holiday. Throughout the year, poems are submitted to the Valentine Peace Project's website (www.valentinepeaceproject.org). This project culminated on Saturday February 14, 2009 when numerous volunteers and community members distribute carnations and the poems to anyone they wish.
